WOODY Allen treads a well-worn path with Bullets Over Broadway, a film which
mocks artists and art, while at the same time fulfilling our need for them.
That apart, Bullets Over Broadway is pure Allen.
It runs and sounds like many of his past films, which is why it was rightfully nominated for a swag of Oscars.
Among the elements: the pretentious artist (John Cusack, a playwright whose works are both boring and inaccessible); the tough-talking, wise guy (Chazz Palminteri, who has a real ear for dialogue); and the boozy, neurotic woman (Diane Weist, a melodramatic actress).
Bullets Over Broadway also has an impressive and amusing supporting cast, with Joe Vitarelli as a serpentine mafioso and Jennifer Tilly as a talentless showgirl.
great film
